Ten months ago, in Paris, I said before the world that we needed a strong global agreement to reduce carbon pollution and to set the world on a low-carbon course.  The result was the Paris Agreement.  Last month, the United States and China -- the world’s two largest economies and largest emitters -- formally joined that agreement together.  And today, the world has officially crossed the threshold for the Paris Agreement to take effect. 
Today, the world meets the moment.  And if we follow through on the commitments that this agreement embodies, history may well judge it as a turning point for our planet.

`Now, we know that we are living in a very different and a very complicated time. The areas of the world most vulnerable to climate change are heavily populated, low-lying coastal regions that are also subject to devastating storms such as cyclones and hurricanes. This places Bangladesh near the very top of the countries at risk, with an estimated 15 million people who could be displaced by 2050. And that is why the United States, President Obama, myself, others are working so hard with local partners in order to try to create climate resiliency, to support renewable energy projects, build emergency centers, help with many millions of Bangladeshis who are economically dependent on coastal resources.

A new Global Military Advisory Council on Climate Change Report “Climate Change & Security In South Asia: Cooperating For Peace” by Lt. General Tariq Waseem Ghazi (Ret.)of Pakistan, Maj. General A.N.M. Muniruzzaman (Ret.) of Bangladesh, and Air Marshall A.K. Singh (Ret.) of India warns that unless measures are taken to address the threat of climate change, it could destabilize the South Asian region.

Hillary Clinton raced into a sharpening phase of her campaign last night by appealing to anxious Americans in hardscrabble coal towns and Texas borderlands, in the first address by a female major-party nominee for president in U.S. history.

Clinton challenged rival Donald Trump on his honesty, temperament and empathy in the pointed speech to an unbridled audience that waved American flags and chanted "Hillary, Hillary, Hillary." She also described a nation in pain, with too much poverty and unemployment, while promising to fight for disaffected workers, maligned immigrants and underpaid women.

সুন্দরবন পূর্ব বিভাগের চাঁদপাই রেঞ্জের ধানসাগর স্টেশনের তুলাতলা টেংরাবিল এলাকায় আগুন লাগার ঘটনায় বৃহস্পতিবার সকাল থেকে চাঁদপাই রেঞ্জজুড়ে বিশেষ সতর্কতা জারি করা হয়েছে। এই রেঞ্জে সব ধরনের পাশ-পারমিট বন্ধ করে দেয়া হয়েছে। স্বাভাবিক অবস্থা ফিরে না আসা পর্যন্ত জেলে বাওয়ালী, মৌয়ালী ও সাধারণ মানুষের প্রবেশাধিকার সংরক্ষিত করা হয়েছে।
বৃহস্পতিবার বিকেল আগুন পর্যন্ত নিয়ন্ত্রণে আসেনি। ওই এলাকার বিভিন্ন স্থানে এখনো আগুন দেখা যাচ্ছে। বনবিভাগ ও ফায়ার সার্ভিসের তিনটি ইউনিট আগুন নেভানোর কাজ চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে। তবে কখন নাগাদ সুন্দরবনের আগুন পুরোপুরি নিভিয়ে ফেলা সম্ভব হবে তা বলা যাচ্ছে না।
